New Year, New Horizons, New Name!

Eloquent Barcelona has moved to the beach!

After 14 fantastic years in the city I’ve left the hustle and bustle behind me in favour of beautiful beach walks, incredible sunsets and slightly obsessive shell & sea-glass collecting 🙂  Therefore, Eloquent Barcelona is broadening its horizons too and has been renamed “Eloquent English”.

In addition to changing the name of my website, I’m also in the process of redefining the services I offer and more importantly, how I offer them and will be updating my website accordingly over the next few weeks.

From now on I’ll be mainly focusing on online classes via Skype or FaceTime so I that I can maintain contact with my Barcelona-based students and also work with individuals and businesses further afield. I’m also developing “Eloquent Business” & “Eloquent Design” which will focus on a range of services for businesses that  I’ll be launching soon (watch this space!)

Wishing you all a wonderful new year and that 2019 is filled with health, happiness, love and laughter.

Variety is the spice of life – and the flavour of Eloquent Barcelona!

One of things I love the most about my job is the sheer variety and as the English poet William Cowper wrote in his 1785 poem “The Task”

“Variety’s the very spice of life, that gives it all its flavour”

Everyday I get to speak to fascinating people with wildly different jobs, interests and life-experiences. I hear incredible stories and anecdotes,  I’m told secrets, dreams and confessions and I read endless interesting articles as inspiration for my classes. Not to mention the encyclopedia of facts and figures that I pick up along the way as a translator and interpreter (I now know more about cranes and welding in both Spanish & English than I’d ever cared to learn!)

So whilst most of Barcelona has been winding down for the Summer, escaping the city or jetting off to exotic destinations,  I’ve been enjoying the potpourri of classes and business services that make up the day-to-day here at Eloquent Barcelona.

So to give you an idea of what’s been going on here and the services I can provide, in addition to my regular classes, here are a few of the projects I’ve been working on over the last couple of months…

  • English coaching sessions for delegates attending an international congress on “Child protection and young people at risk” in Brussels.
  • Six full days providing interpreting services for an Australian company visiting a factory in Catalunya
  • Practise sessions for a local osteopath preparing to act as an interpreter at lectures by a visiting expert.
  • Translating the beautiful new website for a local company that specialises in luxury parquet and laminate flooring www.moskito.es
  • Translating catalogues and correspondence for an award-winning architectural design company based in Uruguay, that is currently in the process of launching their products in Europe and North America www.laagencia.com.uy

As I’m sure William Cowper would agree, our Eloquent Barcelona portfolio of work is nothing if not flavoursome!
